Alejandro is an industrial and systems engineer holding an MBA degree. He has a strong track record in strategy, client advisory and M&A. His international experience and background are supported by strong language and communication skills.
Alejandro is an industrial and systems engineer (Mexico, 1989) with an MBA (the Netherlands, 1992). After four years at an engineering firm in the Netherlands and Spain, working on management consulting and (AutoCAD) design assignments, he spent eleven years at ABN AMRO’s Corporate Finance department both in the Netherlands and Mexico. This was followed by seven years at Royal Ahold (an AEX and formerly NYSE listed international food retailer). During his career he has developed an impressive track record in business development, consulting and M&A. He has worked on international assignments in Europe, Latin America, Australia and the USA, in a wide variety of industries such as retail, mining, transportation, telecom, automotive, petro-chemicals, engineering and utilities. Having joined Ahold shortly after the accounting scandal in 2003, Alejandro advised on the major divestment process of Ahold’s Latin American businesses. He was also responsible for the portfolio realignment, downsizing and restructuring process (revenues decreased from € 56 to €30 billion between 2003 and 2010), resulting in a much stronger, healthier and geographically focused company. During his time at Ahold, Alejandro also managed the development and definition of Royal Ahold’s growth strategy into selected markets and the identification of potential acquisition targets. As a Mexican and Dutch national, Alejandro is fluent in English, Spanish, Dutch, French and Portuguese.
